  • We had a fantastic and very memorable weekend in Balgedie House and Lodge for my husbands 30th birthday. I had booked here as a central meeting point for various family members coming from various parts of Scotland and England. On the day of our arrival, it happened to be the worst bout of snow Balgedie House had ever seen. On arrival the housekeeper Mary and her husband went above and beyond to help us get into the house. The owner, Shona, was also in regular contact with me doing her very best to help as some of our family members were stuck in the snow.
Once everyone eventually arrived we had the most amazing weekend in the house and lodge. It was the perfect venue for what we needed and the large kitchen/dinning/lounge area held us all comfortably.
The kitchen was very well equipped enabling us to cook for a large number and the 2 dishwashers were a great addition.
We had some small children and due to the bad weather we were in the house a lot more than planned but due to there being a great supply of board games, Wii, Netflix etc the kids were well entertained.
The house itself oozes extreme luxury and we are all still obsessing over the heavenly master bedroom’s carpet and the master bathroom.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed Balgedie House and lodge and will most definetly be back again.

  • What a wonderful place to stay - immaculate and in such a beautiful rural but accessible location. Masses of space and a lovely garden, it was absolutely ideal for our family get together. Highly recommend and we hope to be returning soon.

  • We (8 adults and 3 children) had a wonderful 4 night stay at Balgedie House. The house is fully equipped, furnished to a high standard and very comfortable, the well maintained gardens and views over Loch Leven are amazing. Our children loved playing on the tree swing. The attention to detail of the fresh flowers in the bedrooms made the house feel homely, Shona is really attentive with her communication and Mary made us feel very much at home when we arrived. We loved it so much we are returning next year for a week.

  • An outstanding and fabulous location for a family 70th birthday weekend! The room layout was perfect for 8 adults and 7 grandchildren. The garden and grounds were ideal for energetic youngsters and for adults to relax! Well done and thank you, Shona and Charlie, you'll get our highest recommendation!

  • The accommodation at Balgedie Lodge was excellent - very spacious and comfortable with lots of attention to detail. The sun room had fantastic views over the loch and was a great room to relax in after long walks in the area; the sunsets were fantastic. Lots to do around Kinross - plenty of good walks, Loch Leven Castle is worth a visit, and the Kelpies and Falkirk Wheel are close by. We were a large family group staying at both the Lodge and the House and both properties easily accommodated all 19 of us. Both properties were immaculate. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend both Balgedie Lodge and Balgedie House.

  • We had a wonderful stay! The weather was great, almost sunny and blue skies. We did a couple of trips to explore Scotland: In Fort William we took the Jacobite Steam Train; we saw Eilean Donan Castle; and at Loch Ness we found Nessie only in the souvenir shop! The cities of Edinburgh and St Andrews were great to visit too. Every day we were happy to return to the lovely and warm designed cottage with its great view over Loch Leven. The house as well as the garden is very well maintained. We really enjoyed the time here with our three children. The contact with Shona was always good and friendly and we always got a prompt answer. We will definitely recommend this to our friends. Thanks again for the wonderful week!

  • We gathered our family, children and grandchildren, from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Berkhamsted and Walkerburn to celebrate my significant birthday. The house and surroundings were exactly as shown on the website, better even, and immaculately clean and freshly decorated. Mary, the housekeeper was lovely and most helpful, responding to a query promptly. The whole house is superbly appointed and equipped, you lack for nothing. The configuration of bedrooms and bathrooms suited our group precisely and having choices in public spaces was a bonus. We have already sung Balgedie's praises to friends and relatives and would certainly consider a return visit. We wish Shona the very best with this continuing project.

  • Wow! what a place! We enjoyed a stay in Balgedie House with another family. The house was furnished beautifully, yet felt so comfortable and homely right away. It worked brilliantly for us as we all had more than enough space, even the kids had their own playroom and bathrooms! I think a good sign of the break was that we hardly saw the gaggle of boys with us the entire weekend! It was so well equipped throughout and really practical touches like 2 dishwashers for those larger mealtimes made it all so easy. Cooking was a joy with those wonderful views. It is the type of place that you end up sitting at the kitchen table for hours on end, or by the fire in the evening putting the world to rights over a glass or two of something. We had the luxury of staying in the bedroom with the loo and a view! The bed in our room gave this mum of a newborn the best night sleep in ages - just so comfortable! Thank you! Perfect for a multi-generational holiday, or for a couple of families together. Definitely recommend.

  • We had a lovely week staying at Balgedie Lodge; the view from the living room, kitchen & sun room is stunning & always changing, I don't think I would ever get bored of it. The cottage was warm & cosy, nicely decorated & well equipped with everything we needed. We visited Loch Leven Larder for lunch & breakfast (can recommend booking a pod) & we walked to Balgedie Toll for dinner. Although my favourite evenings were sitting with a glass of wine in the sun room watching the sun go down. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage & will hopefully return one day.

  • We have just finished a two week stay and enjoyed every minute! The Lodge was very well equipped with everything we needed, and more, to make our holiday perfect. There were games and books for the children and adults, maps, brochures, suggestions, and even a piano and guitar. When the weather allowed, we sat out in the garden, enjoying the fabulous views of Loch Leven and the surrounding countryside. The location was superb, with easy access to the motorway for Edinburgh or Perth, or exploring Fife, Kinross, and Clackmannanshire. I have stayed in several Airbnb accommodations over the last few years and have been very happy with all of them. This was THE best of the lot! I'll be back!

  • Lots of lovely places to walk the dogs and in a great position for local days out with the kids. The night we arrived there was a bottle of wine and box of chocolate biscuits waiting for us which was a really nice touch. Just a lovely place to stay, can't really say much more. Would love to go back.
